  • After a few seconds,  the LED status light at the bottom of the right earcup will flash amber light. Release the buttons immediately. 
  • Your AirPods Max has been rebooted.

How To Factory Reset AirPods Max

Returning the headphones to their factory settings will wipe all the configurations you set on them. Again, you should make sure that the headphones have some battery left before attempting this method.

Here’s what you need to do:

  • Press and hold the Noise Control button and the Digital Crown for 15 seconds.
  • You will see the LED status light at the bottom of the right-hand earcup flashes amber, then white. This means that the reset is complete.

Connect Your AirPods Max to a Mac

You will need to make sure that your Mac has macOS Big Sur 11.1 or later.

If you set up your AirPods Max with your iPhone and your Mac is signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID, your AirPods Max is ready to use with your Mac. In case they are not automatically paired together, you will have to pair the headphones with your Mac manually. Here’s how to do it:

  • Open the Apple Menu on your Mac
  • Go to System Preferences
  • Select Bluetooth
  • Make sure that Bluetooth is On
  • Set your AirPod Max into pairing mode by Press and hold the Noise Control button until the status light blinks white.
  • Select your AirPods Max in the Devices list, then click Connect.

Connect AirPods Max to a non-Apple device

If you want to use your AirPods Max with non-Apple devices, it will take some extra steps. Basically, the AirPods Max is still Bluetooth/wireless headphones. So pairing them with your new Chromecast, Android phone, Windows PC is quite similar to other headphones of the same type. 

What you need to do is put the AirPods Max in pairing mode by holding down the Noise control button until the indicator light starts flashing white. You will find this button on the top of the right ear cup, while the indicator light is on the bottom of the same side. 

After putting the headphones in pairing mode, launch the Bluetooth settings on the device you want to pair them with. You will find your AirPods Max’s name in the Nearby devices list. Select it and follow the on-screen instructions to pair your device with the headphones.

Of course, the number of features you can use on a Non-Apple device will be limited compared with what you will get on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, or Mac. Specifically, you can’t use Siri, but you are still able to use voice chat or activate the Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode.
