What happens when you lose or damage one (left or right) or both AirPods? It is possible to order a replacement AirPod, a pair, or only the case. Here you can find out everything about it.
Follow The Instructions To Replace Your AirPods or Case.
In the unfortunate event of losing one or both of your AirPods, you can quickly get a new pair by ordering them online on Apple website. Here are the instructions for requesting a replacement AirPod or case:
- On Apple’s website (this link), select ‘AirPods’ from the choices presented,
- Then select ‘Lost or Missing AirPods,” followed by “Replace lost AirPods.”
- Select the model of your AirPods
- You’ll then need to log in with your Apple ID and go through the checkout process to order your replacement AirPods.
How much will you need to pay?
Apple’s website is very clear: they don’t pay for lost or stolen AirPods, so you’ll need to pay a fee to replace your lost or damaged AirPods. Prices vary depending on the model of AirPods you’re ordering, but typically start at $69 for a single replacement AirPod.
Here’s a table with the prices you’ll find on Apple’s website (they have a neat “Get An Estimate” calculator) for ordering a replacement AirPod or case:
Product | Price |
AirPods (1st, 2nd, 3rd generation) | $69 |
AirPods Pro (1st and 2nd generation) | $89 |
Does AppleCare+ or the Warranty Cover This Cost?
Unfortunately, neither AppleCare+ nor the AirPods Warranty covers the cost of replacing lost or stolen AirPods. However, AppleCare+ does offer coverage for accidental damage from handling, so if your AirPods are damaged in any way, you may be able to get them replaced at a reduced cost (not free because there’s a service fee of $29). Additionally, the warranty covers malfunction or manufacturing issues, so if your AirPods are lost or stolen due to abuse, they won’t be covered.
Locate A Lost AirPod
Before you go on and spend money on a replacement AirPod, try to locate your lost or stolen one. You might need to be aware that they are trackable with the Find My iPhone app on your mobile device. You can also see the Last Known Location of your AirPods, typically where you last used them.
If you have the latest AirPods Pro model, it’s possible to look for the left, right, or the case itself. To use this feature, open the Find My iPhone app, select which part you want to locate, and the app will display a map showing where your AirPods are.
