Have you wondered if you can find a lost Apple Watch with a dead battery? If you have, you are not the only one out there. According to Apple, it’s impossible to track and find an Apple Watch if the battery is discharged. However, there are some helpful tips to find your watch in this situation.
Find My is the only way to track an Apple device if it’s ever lost or stolen. In this case, you can use the feature to track and find your lost wearable. Even if your device is switched off, it will send you the last known location on the map. We will show you how to find a dead Apple Watch in the section.
Before we begin, make sure you have enabled the Find My feature on your wearable before it’s lost. Otherwise, it’s nowhere to be found.
How to Set Up Find My on Your Apple Watch
We highly recommend you enable Find My on all of your Apple devices so that you can easily track and find them whenever you misplace them. The steps to enable the feature is simple, and here is how.
Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your device and then tap on your Apple ID’s name at the top of the screen.
Step 2: Tap Find My and you will be asked to turn on Share My Location. Ignore it if you don’t want to turn it on.
Step 3: Now, tap Find My iPhone on the screen, turn it on, and confirm by hitting OK.
Step 4: Ensure you enable Offline Finding, which will help you find your lost device even if it’s discharged or turned off.

Step 5: Turn on Send Last Location, and you are good to go.
Find My will also be enabled on all your Apple devices signed in with the same Apple ID.
How to Find a Dead Apple Watch
If you have already enabled Find My on your Apple Watch before it’s lost, you can find it even if the battery dies or is discharged. Here are the steps.
Step 1: Open the Find My app on your iPhone or iPad and select the Devices tab from the menu.
Step 2: A map will show up on your iPhone or iPad, and all your Find My-enabled devices should appear.
Step 3: If your Apple Watch is now discharged or switched off, it will show up on the map with a blank screen.
Step 4: Now select the Apple Watch from the list and click the Directions tab to get walking or driving directions to your wearable.
Step 5: If your Apple Watch is offline, but the battery remains active, you can select the Play Sound option to locate it.
Step 6: If it’s discharged or switched off, enable Notify When Found. Doing so will send notifications and a location update to your iPhone or iPad if your Apple Watch is turned on.
In short, it’s barely possible to locate precisely your lost Apple Watch if it’s discharged or switched off. However, you can get its last-known location and any update the next time it’s switched on.
How to Find Your Lost Apple Watch on Someone Else’s Device
If you do not have an iPhone or iPad nearby to track your Apple Watch, you can borrow one from your friends and use it to track the lost wearable. Here are the steps.
Step 1: Open the Find My app on the iPhone or iPad and select the Me tab.
Step 2: Hit the Help A Friend tab and log into your iCloud (select Use Different Apple ID from the screen).
Step 3: After you are logged in, follow the on-screen instructions to locate your lost Apple Watch.
You can turn on Lost Mode on your Apple Watch. Once enabled, your device will be “Marked as Lost” and remotely locked. A custom message will show up with your contact number so someone can reach you. In this way, your watch will be nothing but a useless brick unless you turn off Lost Mode.
