5 cool things you can do in Apple Maps that you cannot in Google Maps

Apple Maps is now one of the best mapping services on the market. Apple’s mapping app was once a disaster, with bugs and glitches. The Cupertino company has been working on improving its mapping service for years, in an attempt to add up to a better user experience. Apple Maps has quickly become a more stable and reliable service, allowing for easier navigation.

In iOS 10, Apple Maps received huge improvement, with better look, search improvements, Parked Car feature, and support for third-party apps. iOS 11 continues that trend, bringing major changes to Apple Maps. In iOS 11, Apple Maps now stands in line with Google Maps, or even becomes better than what Google’s mapping service can do.

If you are a Google Maps users, then we have created five reasons to switch to Apple Maps on your iPhone. Before we proceed, make sure you now have a modern version of Apple Maps installed on your phone. If not, head to the App Store and update the app.

  1. Flyover mode in Apple Maps

Flyover mode is Apple’s answer to Google Street View, allowing users to take a 3D tour of their desired city. In reality, Flyover mode is one of the biggest additions to Apple Maps, offering you an overview of a city. Apple’s Flyover mode is now available in hundreds of cities worldwide. All you need to do is to launch the Apple Maps app, then search for a city and then hit the Flyover button to activate Flyover mode.

  1. 3D view

With Apple Maps, you can get a 3D view of a city, which comes in handy for those who frequently travel to unfamiliar locations. Google Maps, on the other hand, uses satellite to offer 3D view during turn-by-turn navigation. While this may be useful for some users, it may look like a struggle if you navigate through cities with tall buildings and landmarks.

To enable 3D view in Apple Maps, launch the app on your phone and then swipe up with two fingers to enter 3D mode. 3D view now supports hundreds of cities around the world, with more to come in the future.
