When you type a search in the address bar in Chrome or Safari, the browser will use the search engine to suggest the web addresses and terms you are looking for. For some users, this search suggestion may be useful, as they can expand their search queries, while others may find it annoying because it disrupts their searching flow, or simply they want to complete their search queries by themselves.

If you happen to find it distracting and annoying, you will have to disable search suggestions, which can be done right from your web browsers without the need for a third-party app to be installed on your device. 1. How to disable search suggestions in desktop chrome
Step 1: Initiate Google Chrome on your computer, click on the three lines button located in the upper-right corner of the browser, and select Settings.

Step 2: In the Settings panel, scroll down to Show advanced settings and click on it.

Step 3: Tick the box next to the Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar or the app launcher search box option underneath the Privacy heading.

From now on, every time you type in a search query in the address bar, Chrome will no longer display query suggestions.
2. How to disable Chrome search suggestions on your iPhone
You can easily disable Chrome search suggestions on your iPhone or other mobile devices using the following steps:
Step 1: Launch Google Chrome on your device.
Step 2: Tap on the three horizontal lines button on the right hand side of your browser, and tap Settings.

Step 3: In the settings menu, scroll down to Privacy and tap on it.

Step 4: On the following screen, toggle the Show Suggestions button to the left to disable it.

3. How to disable Safari search suggestions on Mac OS X
Step 1: Launch Google Chrome on your Mac.
Step 2: Once it is done, click on the Safari menu in the top left corner of your browser and select Preferences…

Step 3: Click on the Search bar in the Preferences panel.

Step 4: Uncheck the box next to the Include search engine suggestions option underneath the Search engine section.

4. How to disable Safari search suggestions on your iPhone
Step 1: Launch the Settings app from your Home screen.

Step 2: Scroll down to Safari, and tap on it to bring up the Safari Settings panel.

Step 3: Disable the Search Engine Suggestions option sliding its toggle to the left.
