Unable to activate iPad and iPhone after iOS 9.3 update. Here is how you fix it

iOS 9.3 comes with a lot of exciting features including password-protected Notes, Night Shift mode, data-friendly Wi-Fi Assist, and many more. However, some iPad 2 users have reported that they cannot activate their devices after upgrading its operating system to Apple’s latest mobile software. Specifically, iOS 9.3 update requires users of older iPhones and iPads to enter their Apple ID and password originally used to activate the devices. According to Apple, there are times when users cannot recall their password, their devices will remain inactive.

There are some workarounds to fix the problem. In this piece, we will show you how to force your iPad into DFU mode and restore to iOS 9.3 afresh. Make sure you backup your data to iCloud before restoring your device.

Step 1: Download iOS 9.3 Final version for iPhone and iPad.

Step 2: Connect your iPad to your computer and open iTunes.

Step 3: Press and hold Power and Home buttons at the same time for 10 seconds.

Step 4: Release the Power button and continue to hold down the Home button until iTunes confirms that your iPad is now in Recovery Mode.

Step 5: Click the Restore button in iTunes, then select the iOS 9.3 file you downloaded in the step 1, and wait for iTunes to complete the restore process.

There is another option you can try to fix the problem, you can follow the steps below:

Step 1: Press and hold down the Power button until the general power off screen displays, and slide it to the right to turn off your device. Or you can take your iPad or iPhone into offline to proceed.

Step 2: Go to iCloud.com on your computer and enter your Apple ID and password.

Step 3: Activate Find My iPhone, and select All Devices.

Step 4: Select your device, and click Remove from Account.

Step 5: Once you have finished the setup process, sign in to iCloud again on your iDevice.
