Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (Fan Edition) is a special version released for Galaxy fans out there. The new model is a great option for those who want to enjoy the top-end Galaxy experience at a more affordable cost.

Here is my brief review that gives you a glimpse at the new Galaxy S20 FE.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition does not come with an eye-catching design like its S20 siblings. In fact, the phone features a plastic back and rounded edges. Samsung calls this design “Glasstic” and it is the cheaper alternative to the premium glass. Actually, it is not so important, the cover has been reworked with matte paint to create a more luxurious feel. From a distance, you never know it’s made of plastic. Even though it will feel less premium, the plastic back cover will be more durable than the glass one, so it’s a win-win situation. To be honest, the plastic back is not a big deal, as it at least does not pick up fingerprints as glass does.

The Fan Edition version will not come with a 3.5mm jack. Instead, it has the SIM / memory card combo placed on the top edge, while the USB-C port and speaker are located on the bottom.

In terms of colors, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE offers a variety of options to pick from . The Fan Edition comes in blue, red, lavender, mint, white, and orange. On the other hand, the Galaxy S20 comes in gray, black, and light blue colors.

There is nothing to complain about the S20 FE display. It has a 6.5-inch Infinity-O screen with super thin edges. The under-screen selfie camera is also reduced in size to make way for more screen space. With a brightness level of 407ppi, you can easily navigate the phone screen in the sunlight. In addition, it is also equipped with a fairly high refresh rate of 120Hz.

The phone carries a 3-camera system arranged vertically and placed in a rectangular module. The rear camera cluster of the S20 FE includes a 12MP main sensor with an f / 1.8 aperture lens and a 12MP wide-angle camera with a 123-degree field of view. The S20 FE is equipped with a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calling, with pixel binning support, instead of just a 10MP selfie camera like the S20.

It still has the same Camera app as the S20/ Note 20. The selfie image is pretty good with no virtualization. but I found out that the image is a bit out of place. Video is limited to 4K at 60fps.

The Snapdragon variant is limited to the US and China, while others get the Exynos variants. In terms of the GPU, it will come with a Mali-G77 MP11 chip coupled with 8GB RAM. It also has 128GB internal memory. With these specifications, the s20 FE can handle everything you throw at it. In addition, it comes with a 4,500 mAh battery and support for 25W fast charging technology.

With the price starting at 700$, The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is a good phone. It still has all the features from the S20 lineup. However, if the plastic back does not really matter, then the S20 FE is a good option given that it comes with a 120Hz screen, powerful specs, and good camera.
