OLED-enabled iPhone models will be called iPhone XS this year

Apple’s 2018 iPhone models are just around the corner and we are expecting to see a lot of new things this year. The Cupertino firm is expected to debut its new iPhones at its own annual September event. Apple officially confirmed that it will hold an event on September 12 where it will announce three iPhone models, one of which includes a 6.1 inch iPhone model.

Apple has started sending out invitations to its annual event. Last year, Apple unveiled new iPhone models on September 12 at the Steve Jobs Theater in the Apple Campus. iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X are a great success with millions of units sold every quarter.

According to Apple’s earnings report, the American firm shipped more than 16 million iPhone X units in the first three months of the year, while the iPhone 8 shipments hit 8 million units. Sources say that Apple will sell more iPhone models during this year’s holiday shopping season.

Last year, Apple teamed up with retailers to offer promotions and discounts for a wide range of products. In 2016, Apple Watch was the hottest item in emerging markets like India or China, mainly thanks to huge discounts. Sources claim that 2017 iPhone models will see big discount programs later this year to attract more customers.

According to the latest sources, Apple suppliers are expecting to ship around 75 million iPhone units by the end of the year. TMSC is currently Apple’s sole supplier of mobile chips, while Samsung Display is now providing Apple with hundreds of millions of OLED display panels.

According to the latest sources, Apple has been working on its own chip to reduce its dependence on third-party manufacturers out there. In reality, Apple and Qualcomm have been on fire in recent months as the American chipmaker is accusing Apple of contract breach.

Last month, Qualcomm says that Apple may not use its cellular modems in the next iPhones. Instead, it will develop its own mobile chips. Some reliable reports claim that Apple will use Intel’s chips in future iPhone models.

Tech experts claim that Apple will call this year’s iPhone models iPhone 9 and iPhone XS respectively this year. Specifically, two OLED-enabled iPhone models will be named XS at launch, while the cheaper device will be called iPhone 9 this year.

This goes against what we heard in previous rumors that Apple will release three new iPhone models, including a new iPhone X, iPhone X Plus, and a cheaper iPhone 9. Tech experts claim that Apple officially killed iPhone 9 to go to iPhone X this year. The iPhone X is seeing a great sales performance and there is no reason to ditch it from iPhone lineup this year.

Besides, Apple will improve the camera on upcoming iPhone models to offer a better user experience. The iPhone X features a much-improved camera setup, allowing for better photos in low-light conditions. Apart from the new iPhone models, Apple will debut new MacBook Pro and new iPad models at the event.
