21 iPhone Optimized Themes for Publishing Platforms

There are over 30 million people browsing the web right now using an Apple device. So it’s no surprise that many developers are porting the most popular CMS’s, forums, blogging and e-commerce platforms over to be Mobile Safari friendly. While there are hundreds of publishing platforms out there, I thought I’d post a list of some of the more popular ones that have been iPhone optimized.

WordPress

Since it is one of the most popular blogging platforms it’s no surprise there are several options for iPhone optimizing your WordPress install.

WPTouch by Brave New Code

In my opinion, WPTouch is by far the best option for anyone who uses WordPress. More than just a plugin, WPtouch is an entire theme package for your WordPress website. Modeled after Apple’s app store design specs, WPtouch makes your WordPress website load lightning fast on touch mobile devices, show your content beautifully, all while not interfering with your regular theme.

Blip.It by Brave New Code

Blip.it was originally written as a proof-of-concept for video on the iPhone. Since blip.tv offers the ability to convert videos into iPhone/iPod compatible H.264 video, we wanted to incorporate the ability to display those videos in conjunction with WPtouch. So while the Blip.it plugin will work without the WPtouch theme, and without a professional blip.tv account, the best user experience incorporates both.

  1. Superb blog! Do you have any tips for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There
are so many options out there that I’m totally confused ..
    Any ideas? Kudos!
