iPhone X common problems: How to fix them

Apple iPhone X is the best smartphone you can get right now on the market. iPhone X marks the biggest design change Apple has ever made on an iPhone. The X is the first iPhone model to come with a curved OLED display and wireless charging functionality. The device has been out there for six months only, but we have heard some of the problems users are facing with the X.

Some common iPhone X issues include an unresponsive touchscreen, failed activation, slow Face ID and lack of home button. Apple is fully aware of that and they are working on fixes. In the section below, we have compiled a list of the common iPhone X issues and how to fix them. Before we begin, make sure you now have a modern version of iOS on your device. To update an iPhone, open the Settings app, hit General > Software Update and check for updates.

  1. Face ID not working

Face ID is one of the biggest additions to iPhone lineup, allowing users to quickly unlock their device with a simple glance. Face ID takes advantage of Apple Bionic chip to work on the iPhone X, offering a new way to interact with iPhone. However, Face ID has its own issues.

Some iPhone X owners have reported that Face ID functionally suddenly stopped working, forcing them to use the passcode. If you are dealing with the issue, then remove your registered faces and re-scan your face.

Another Face ID issue is that it fails to work when it’s lying on the table. If you frequently put your phone on a table, then get a charging stand. There are a number of different charging stands you can get on the market. However, we recommend you use a Qi wireless charging stand.

  1. Lack of home button

With iPhone X, Apple officially removed the home button in favor of a curved all-screen design. However, the adoption of a new design leads to some gestures that may take some getting used to. A number of iPhone X owners have reported that they are not still used to those gestures.

If you happen to sit among those users, then the best shot to deal with the problem is to enable AssistiveTouch. For some background, AssistiveTouch has been around for years, allowing users to control their device and perform some gestures. This eliminates the need for physical buttons.

To enable AssistiveTouch on your iPhone X, head to Settings, then hit General and tap Accessibility. After that, select AssistiveTouch and turn on the switch.

  1. Activation issues

Back in November, many iPhone X owners complained that they could not activate their iPhone X. Apple confirmed that the issue occurred due to Apple’s servers and they fixed it. However, it seems that the problem still persists.

A number of iPhone X owners have reported that activation fails again. If you are among those users who are dealing with the problem, then try a few times. If nothing changes, make sure you bring your device to a local Apple Store.

  1. Headphone jack

Back in 2016, Apple removed the traditional 3.5mm headphone jack from its iPhone lineup. Apple’s move was met with a lot of controversy at launch. On iPhone X, Apple continues to kill the headphone jack. Fortunately, Apple is now offering a dongle that allows you to plug your headphones into the lighting port.

  1. Unresponsive screen

iPhone X offers a stunning display, delivering an exceptional experience for users. However, many users complain that the touchscreen on the X fails to respond. The problem still persists even after they reboot their device. Apple is aware of the issue and working on a fix that will come in future updates.

  1. Gestures

With iPhone X, Apple introduced a number of different gestures. This means that some of the basic things you have grown accustomed to for years won’t work anymore. To turn off your iPhone X, you now need to press and hold the Side button and Volume Up button and then drag the slider to switch off.

If you want to reset your X, then old trick no longer works. You now need press both Volume buttons. After that, press and hold the Wake button until you see the Apple logo. To take a screenshot on your iPhone X, press and release the Volume Up and Wake buttons.

iPhone X is a great phone that comes with a lot of exciting things. However, it also has its own problems that may disappoint some hard-core fans.
