iPhone 11 Pro or iPhone 11? | Let’s Compare

With the release of the iPhone 11 and the iPhone 11 Pro, it may seem a bit confusing to know which one is best for you and what the general differences are. Well, on the surface, they look like completely different models. But if you look deeper, you’ll see that actually these devices share more than you’d think.

Design

The first big difference you can see is in the available colors for each model. The iPhone 11 is available in purple, yellow, green, black, silver, and project(RED). iPhone 11 Pro Max is available in Midnight Green, silver, space gray and gold. The new iPhone this year has gone for a softer color palette (with the exception of project (RED)). The iPhone Pro features some classics we’ve seen before and also introduced Midnight Green, yet again, quite a subtle color.

Both models use the “toughest glass on a smartphone yet” as the housing. The back is made from only one piece of glass. Even the part around the cameras is still the same piece. One main difference is that the glass on the iPhone 11 is glossy, whereas on the iPhone 11 Pro it has a textured matte finish. The iPhone 11 is also housed in 100% recycled aluminum whereas the Pro uses stainless steel.

Here is the main difference that divides people on which iPhone is right for them. The iPhone 11 has a liquid retina HD 6.1″ LCD display. However, the Pro uses a Super Retina XDR OLED display in either 5.8″ for the Pro or 6.5″ for the Pro Max. There’s a lot of jargon there, but in layman’s terms, the iPhone Pro display is better, much better. This is the best iPhone display and the sharpest display Apple has made to date. The display on the iPhone 11 is in no way bad, it’s still a great screen. It’s just that the display on the iPhone Pro display is better for the more creative people out there. It’s also the main difference between the jump in price. So if you’re happy with not having a superior screen, then just go for the iPhone 11.

Just by looking at them, you can see that there is a big difference between the cameras. But actually, there isn’t a huge difference here. The iPhone Pro comes with three cameras; a wide lens, and Ultra Wide lens, and a Telephoto lens. The iPhone 11 has the same, except it doesn’t have the Telephoto lens. at a glance, it might seem like a bit of a loss. But realistically, you can just take a few steps forward and take the exact same photo that you could with the Telephoto lens. The nice thing about the Pro is that you can take 3 completely different photos from the same place, you can also record using all 4 cameras at the same time, giving you multiple shots and reducing takes.

Water Resistance

This one slipped under most people’s radar. Yes, both iPhones are water resistant, however, there is a difference between the iPhone 11 and the Pro. The iPhone 11is water resistant up to a depth of 2 meters for 30 minutes. it can also deal with someone accidentally spilling their coffee onto your phone too. The iPhone Pro does the same, however, it’s water resistant to a depth of up to 4 meters.

The Verdict

I think that the average Joe will be very happy with the iPhone 11 (from $699). It has everything you would need; a full days battery life, nice screen, good audio, durable surround. However, if that’s not enough for you the iPhone Pro (from $999) has a slight boost with everything mentioned above. I think the use of the word Pro here is accurate. Most people don’t need the Pro, but it wasn’t made to suit everyone’s needs. For me personally, I’d be going for the Pro, but that’s only because it’s so valuable to me for my work.
