With iOS 10, Apple has revamped its lock screen. From now on, you can do a lot more right on your iPhone lock screen besides checking time and launching camera. Normally, when you receive a notification, it will be displayed in a preview from your lock screen even if your iPhone screen is now turned off. For some users, this could be more convenient than unlocking their device every time they have a notification. Others, on the other hand, see this feature as a serious threat to their privacy, as anyone can see and read their notifications. If you happen to sit in the latter group, and you want to disable this feature, we can help you.
There is a simple workaround you can use to turn off this notification from your iOS 10’s lock screen. In this post, we will show you how to do this.
How to turn off text message and email notification previews from iOS 10’s lock screen
Step 1: First and foremost, launch the Settings app from your home screen.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap on Notifications, and while you are in, tap on Messages.
Step 3: You will see the option labeled Show Previews at the bottom of the screen, and all you have to do is to toggle the Show Previews slider to the left.
Step 4: Once it is done, tap on Notifications at the top-left. This step will take you back to notifications settings where you need to turn off email notifications from your lock screen.
Step 5: All you need to do now is to tap on Mail and then tap the email account you are using on your iPhone.
Step 6: Turn off the switch for “Show Previews” to disable the feature.
That’s it! After you are done, go back to your lock screen and you will no longer see a preview of text messages and email notifications. If you change your mind, you can repeat the process and toggle on “Show Previews”.
