Apple Music has seen a steady growth since release. Last year, Apple’s music-streaming service officially hit 60 million paying subscribers only 4 years after launch, making it a serious contender in the market that has been dominated by Spotify.
One of the best things about Apple Music lies in its full integration into Apple’s popular iOS ecosystem. And if you now have an Apple device, then it’s time to give Apple Music a try.
Last year, I decided to make the switch to Apple Music from Spotify. It was not because I had an issue with the Swedish music streaming service, but because I bought a new iPhone 11 Pro and I heard Apple Music worked best on Apple devices. Indeed, I could integrate my iCloud music library into Apple Music, so I could have both my own music and Apple Music content in one location. This is something Spotify cannot do.
I now find myself constantly switching back and forth between Apple Music and Spotify, as both offer most of the music I want to listen to. However, I have to admit that that’s because of iCloud Music Library that keeps me longed for my like as an Apple Music subscriber.
In this article, I will walk you through the steps on how to transfer your Spotify Music Library to Apple Music on your iPhone or iPad. In reality, there is no direct way to transfer your songs from Spotify to Apple Music, so we are going to need a little help from a third-party app called SongShift.
How to Transfer Spotify Music Library to Apple Music using SongShift
Songshift is a great iOS app that allows you to transfer your music from Spotify to Apple Music. Indeed, you will be able to shift your favorite playlists or songs with some simple taps. The best part is that the transfer does not require you to jailbreak your device. Here we go.
Step one: First of all, download the SongShift app from the App Store onto your iPad or iPhone. SongShift is completely free to download (no subscription plan to sign up and no additional fee to pay).
Step two: Once you have the app installed on your iOS device, open it and tap on the Settings icon at the top right corner of the app.
Step three: Select the music-streaming service you wish to import your music into. From here, you should see a list of all supported services (in this case, select Apple Music).
Step four: Next up, connect SongShift to your Apple Music library. Hit the Authorize button and proceed with clicking OK from the pop-up menu.
Step five: Now, select Spotify from the list and then hit the Connect button. You will be asked to log into your Spotify account and then tap on the Agree button.
Step six: Go back to the app’s homepage, then tap on the SongShift button at the bottom of the page, and select the Setup Source button.
Step seven: Now, tap on the Spotify logo, then select the playlist you wish to transfer to Apple Music. After that, select the Setup Destination button and select Apple Music.
Step eight: Hit the I’m Finished button and your music will be transferred to Apple Music library or playlist.
That’s easy, right? You now can quickly transfer all of your music from Spotify to Apple Music without paying any additional fee.
Spotify still dominates the market, but Apple Music is catching up everyday. If I wanted to leave Apple Music right now, then iCloud Music Library would pull me back. That’s something Spotify users cannot do at the moment, not to mention, the lack of new music from major artists. I love Spotify, but I cannot find new albums and singles from Adele or Rihanna on it when they release. I know they will hit Spotify eventually, but getting new music from my favorite artists before anyone else is so exciting.
