How to switch from Android to Apple iPhone

Android and iOS have been in an intense competition for years. Both Apple and Google have been busy improving their own mobile OS since the launch day. If you have been using an Android phone for a long time, then at some point you may have wanted to switch to Apple iOS.

Apple’s iOS is among the most secure mobile operating systems in the world. Apple has been improving the security of iOS for years in an attempt to protect your personal data from the prying eyes. If you are planning to buy an iPhone, then you need to make sure everything makes the switch with you.

Apple is making transferring to iOS much easier than before, thanks to its own Move to iOS app. However, the process may be unknown to many folks. With that in mind, we are here to help.

In this guide, we have gathered everything you should know about switching from Android to Apple iOS. Before we begin, make sure you now have the latest software update on your both Android and iOS.

  1. iTunes

iTunes is among the highlights of Apple’s mobile operating system. iTunes has been an essential part of iOS since the day one, allowing users to store their digital content or purchase music and apps. Apple has been improving iTunes for years in an attempt to add up to a better user experience.

You now can do a lot more things with iTunes, ranging from the ability to create your iPhone’s backup to the ability to transfer files between Apple devices. If you are planning to switch from Android to iOS, then iTunes should be the first thing you need to check out.

You can install iTunes on your Windows PC, so you can migrate your personal files between Apple devices and your Windows-based PC.

  1. Sync content to your computer

You can easily sync your Android content to your computer before switching sides. This makes sure that your personal files are safe and sound in case something goes wrong during the process. You can sync music, calendars, photos, and videos to your PC and then move them into your new iPhone.

You can count on a third-party storage service out there to make the switch. Dropbox is one of the leading storage services on the market. Dropbox offers 2GB of storage space for free, and you can upgrade your subscription to get more space for $8 per month.

All you need to do is to download Dropbox to your Android phone, then upload your content to the cloud and then access them on your iPhone.

  1. What content you can move over

Basically, you can move almost everything to your new Apple device, ranging from contacts, music to photos and videos. However, the process may be slightly different depending on the content you wish to transfer.

  • Photos and videos

If you want to switch to Apple iOS, then you will need to make sure your photos and videos make the switch securely. There are a number of ways for you to move your photos and videos to your new iPhone.

We recommend you sync your photos and videos to your computer. Doing so not only protects your data from corruption but also creates a backup of your phone. To do this, connect your Android phone to computer, then select all files you wish to move over and let the transfer process begin.

Note that the process may take a while depending on how much content you wish to transfer. Once done, pick up your new iPhone and then move all your photos and videos to it using iTunes.

  • Contacts

Contacts are among the first things you need to transfer to your new iPhone. There are two options you can move your contacts to your new iPhone. First, you can sync your content to your PC and then transfer them to your new iPhone using a cable.

Second, you can upload your contacts to third-party tools like Google Contacts. After that, sync your Google Contacts to iPhone. To do this, open Settings from your home screen, then tap Gmail and make sure you turn on the switch for Contacts. Once you do that, all the addresses you add to Google Contacts will be moved to your iPhone.

  • Apps

Transferring apps from your Android phone to Apple iOS is a different story. In reality, some Android apps are not available on iOS. This means that you need to find some replacements that do the same thing. All you need to do is to open the App Store and then find the iPhone versions of your Android apps.
