The ability to password-protect notes is one of the biggest changes in iOS 9.3. The new feature was met with a virtual round of applause from all iOS users. Basically, password-protecting notes mean that you offer a secondary security layer for your items stored within the app. However, there are times when this new feature becomes a cause of annoyance if you fail to remember your Notes password.
If you are experiencing the above-mentioned issue and you want to reset the Notes app password, we can help. In this post, we will walk you through how to reset notes app password on iPhone or iPad.
Note that resetting your notes app password using the below-mentioned step-by-step instructions will not affect any notes that you have already password-protected within the Notes app. These protected notes will retain the old password that was previously set or locked. In other words, resetting notes password allows you to set a new password for future notes.
How to reset notes app password in Notes app on iPhone or iPad
Step 1: First and foremost, you need to launch the Settings app from your Home screen
Step 2: Scroll down to the “Notes” section and all you have to do is to tap on it
Step 3: While you are in, tap on Password
Step 4: Select “Reset Password” at the bottom. This step allows you to set a new password for notes you lock from now on including Notes on your Mac
Step 5: Enter your new password and confirm it
Step 6: Once you are done, exit the Settings
That’s it! From now on, the new password will be applied to newly protected notes within the Notes app. If you want to remove password that was previously set for an old note, you need to unlock it first by entering the correct password.
