Everything is now tied to your email, from your Amazon account to your Facebook account to your Apple ID. The Mail app has evolved from a way to send electronic letters to becoming a digital hub for what we do online.
The Mail app has been an integral part of Apple’s ecosystem since the first days of the iPhone and has been greatly improved over the years. However, there are many times when the Mail app won’t show up on your iPhone. In fact, many iPhone owners have reported that their iPhone Mail app disappears from the home screen.
If you are one of those the issue has touched, rest assured that the solutions are straightforward. In the section below, we will cover the steps to fix the Mail app not showing on the iPhone issue.
Why Is My Mail App Missing?
There are several reasons why your Mail App is not working on your iPhone. The first cause is that you have accidentally removed it from the home screen. Indeed, Apple allows you to remove any default app from your home screen, thus keeping your apps organized.Â
To fix this, swipe right or left on your iPhone’s home screen until you see the App Library. From here, if you see the Mail app, move it back to the home screen.
Another cause is that you have accidentally deleted the app. In iOS, you can delete an app by pressing and holding down on it and then selecting the Delete option from the pop-up menu. In this case, the best shot is to re-install it. We will show you how in the section below.
How to Re-install the Mail App on iPhone
Re-installing an app is straightforward and takes some simple steps. If you are new to the Apple iPhone, follow our steps below.
Step 1:
- Open the App Store on your iPhone.
- Type the name of the app (the Mail app) you wish to re-install in the search bar.
- Tap Search.
Step 2: From the drop-down menu, look for the Mail app. Make sure you choose the correct Mail app. Some third-party apps have similar names to Apple’s built-in Mail app and may be included in the results.Â
Step 3: From the app detail screen, hit the Get button to download it to your iPhone. Once the download is complete, the Mail app should show up on your iPhone’s home screen.Â
Note: The Mail app may appear on one of your Home screens. All you need to do is swipe left or right until you see the app icon. Besides, you can re-position the Mail app to your preferred Home screen.Â
- Look for the Mail app icon on your home screen, then tap and hold the empty space until the icons jiggle or the editing mode is turned on. After that, drag the app to your preferred location and hit Done to confirm.Â
My Accounts Do Not Show Up in The Mail App
Many iPhone users say that their email inboxes or accounts do not show up after they’ve re-installed the Mail app. The reason is that your email accounts linked to the Mail app remain inactive. You need to re-activate it to get back to your email inbox. Here are the steps;

Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone and then select Mail.
Step 2: Select Accounts and select the email address you previously linked to the built-in Mail app.
Step 3: On the next screen, turn on the switch next to Mail to re-activate the linking.Â
Note:
- If your email inbox doesn’t show up in the Mail app, restart your iPhone.
- Once your iPhone finishes booting up, check if the problem is fixed.
- If not, delete the email account from your iPhone, then add the account to your iPhone again.
My Accounts Are There, but New Emails Won’t Show Up
If you do not receive new emails for the email address linked to the Mail app, the problem may be with your email settings. Email accounts on the iPhone are set to check new emails on a schedule. You can change the settings to show up a new email as soon as it arrives.
To do it, open Settings > Passwords & Accounts > Fetch New Data. From new, turn on the toggle for Push. When enabled, it will automatically download all emails from your account to your iPhone as soon as they arrive.
You can change email settings for a specific email address. From the Fetch New Data screen, select Fetch or Manual under the Select Schedule section. Your iPhone checks for emails on your preferred timeframe if you select Fetch. If you select Manual, you need to request your emails manually.Â
