Here is how to add a website shortcut to the Dock on Mac

One of the best features of Mac OS X is the Dock, which contains all the running apps and also acts as a convenient place to access your favorite apps. Normally, the Dock is located at the bottom or side of your screen so you can see it every time you open your Mac.

The Dock is really useful, as you can add documents, apps and folders to it. Apart from that, you can do the same thing with a website shortcut. Adding a website shortcut to the Dock offers you a quick way to access both the browser and that site.

If you are using a Mac, and you have got no idea how to add a URL to the Dock, we can help you. The best thing is that URL can be added to the Dock from every web browser and this trick works in all Mac OS X versions.

In this post, we will show you how to add a website shortcut from Safari to the Dock

Step 1: First and foremost, open Safari web browser on your Mac, and go to the website that you want to add a shortcut for.

Step 2: Once you are in the web page, click and hold on the URL link on the top, and then all you need to do is to drag the link to the right hand side of the Dock on your Mac.

Step 3: Release and you will notice that the website URL now appears in the Dock as a shortcut so that you can access it all the time simply clicking on it.

Note: As mentioned above, once you have clicked the website shortcut you have just created, you will have an instant access to your web browser (Safari) and a new browser window that contains that website.

If you want to add more than one website to the Dock, you can repeat the process. However, in case, you cannot click and drag the URL link to the Dock, you can go to Safari’s bookmarks bar, search for that website’s bookmark icon and grab it into the Dock.

That’s it! From now on, you add the websites that you use the most to the Dock on your Mac. Remember this trick works perfectly with other web browsers such as Chrome, Opera, Firefox and more.
