Apple One: Is it Really Worth it?

Apple finally launched its Apple One at the end of October. If you are interested in the Apple ecosystem, then this is actually a very tempting option. So, what exactly can you get from Apple One, and is it really worth it? Here is the answer to all of your questions about Apple One!

Apple One is a new subscription bundle that brings all of Apple’s services into a single monthly payment. But, it doesn’t add anything new to the services themselves. However, you will get a massive saving over individual subscriptions.

All Services in One Simple Plan

  • Apple Music: Contains more than 70 million songs, curated playlists, and cloud access to purchased music from iTunes.
  • Apple TV Plus: It’s like Netflix, but this is a premium streaming service filled with exclusive TV shows and movies.
  • Apple Arcade: This is the first mobile game subscription service that contains more than 100 games to download and play offline on your Apple devices.
  • Apple News Plus: Like its name, this service lets you access hundreds of articles from magazines and newspapers.
  • Apple Fitness Plus: A streaming service with guided workouts and fitness plans.
  • iCloud: Apple’s cloud storage service includes free 5GB with many upgrade plans.

How much is it?

There are 3 different subscription plans for Apple One. Here are the pricing tiers.

Individual
($14.95/month)
Apple Music, Apple TV Plus, Apple Arcade, and iCloud (50GB) for 1 user.
Family
($19.95/month)
Apple Music, Apple TV Plus, Apple Arcade, and iCloud (200GB) for up to 6 users.
Premier ($29.95/month)Apple Music, Apple TV Plus, Apple Arcade, iCloud (2TB), Apple News Plus, and Apple Fitness Plus for up to 6 users.

In addition, Apple One will include a 30-day free trial. However, this free version is very limited. Also, it’s only available for services that you haven’t already used a free trial for and subscribed to. Basically, this means that if you already signed up for a free trial of Apple TV Plus, you are out of luck.

Is Apple One Worth it?

While Apple One undoubtedly offers savings over each individual subscription, whether it’s worth or not comes down to you. If you have already subscribed to one of those Apple services, then Apple One is a better option.

Honestly, the only service I care about is iCloud, which only costs $1/month for 50GB on the individual plan. Also, if it’s not enough, there is an option for 200GB at just $3/month.

While Apple Music and Apple TV Plus are also great for entertaining, neither of them is truly necessary. On top of that, Apple TV Plus is growing, but it still lacks the must-watch contents that draw people’s attention like Netflix. And, Apple Music can also be replaced by services like Spotify or YouTube Music. On the other hand, Apple Arcade is a solid choice if you like mobile games or enjoy Apple’s exclusive titles.

Overall, you can save up to $6 a month with the Individual plan ($20.96/month if you buy everything separately), while the Family plan will save you about $8 a month.

With the Premier plan, you can save around $25, but the Apple Fitness Plus hasn’t launched yet. So, it’s tough to say whether or not it’s worth it.

Ultimately, the Apple One is only worth it if you’ve already subscribed to one of the services it offers. To be honest, Apple’s iCloud is the only reason why Apple One intrigues me. What about you? Let me know in the comments below.
