We are now so close to Apple’s October event where the Cupertino firm is expected to announce a new iPad Pro. Rumors regarding this year’s 2018 iPad Pro have been circulating around for months, hinting that the new tablet will feature a bunch of impressive features and a new design.
Apart from a new iPad Pro, Apple is expected to announce a new MacBook Air, iMac mini, and a handful of macOS updates at the event. The Cupertino firm has started sending out invites for its event, but there is no mention of a new iPad Pro at its October event. Tech experts claim that this year’s October event will belong to iPad Pro models, while a new MacBook Air takes supporting role.
In this article, we have gathered everything we expect to see at Apple’s October event. For some background, the event will take place in New York on October 30, meaning that the event is just around the corner. So make sure you keep up with the latest updates out there.

iPad Pro
The Pro lineup is one of the most powerful tablets on the market. First debuted back in 2015. The original iPad Pro quickly gained its popularity, with praise directed at its hardware improvements and premium design. Last year, the Cupertino firm announced the second-gen iPad Pro with a significant under-the-hood upgrade and a better display.
It’s been more than one year since Apple debuted the iPad Pro 2 and there is no word on a possible release of the successor. At the September event, Apple announced three new iPhones, but there was no mention of a new iPad Pro. In September, sources claimed that Apple would hold an iPad event in late October. We have heard a lot of speculation that the upcoming iPad Pro will feature a USB-C at launch, allowing for faster file transfer and quick charging times. Besides, reports say that Apple will remove the home button from the new iPad and replace it with a True Depth camera, paving the way for Face ID.
For some background, Face ID is Apple’s latest security measure that makes unlocking your phone faster and easier. Face ID is now smarter and faster than before thanks to Apple’s endless attempt to improve it. If this is the case, the new iPad Pro will feature a bigger screen with smaller bezels on both sides and a top-notch, just like 2018 iPhones. Under the hood, the new tablet will use the A12X Bionic chip, allowing for a much-improved performance over the current iPad Pro. This means that Apple will skip the A11X Bionic for this year’s Pro. However, it remains unknown how much RAM the new iPad Pro will get this year.

Apple Pencil 2
The Apple Pencil was once the highlight of the Pro lineup. However, Apple expanded its availability to the 9.7 inch iPad, which was debuted in March 2018. Apple’s stylus has not received a major upgrade since 2017, so we are expecting to see something new this year. Sources claim that Apple will release the second-generation Apple Pencil this year and will sell it separately.
According to the latest reports, the new Apple Pencil will come with a new pairing feature that will allow users to quickly switch their stylus between Apple devices. This eliminates the need to plug your stylus into a Lighting port. Reports also claim that the 2nd Apple Pencil will feature Bluetooth connectivity at launch, just like Samsung’s S-Pen. Tech experts say that the next generation Apple’s stylus will be Apple’s strong answer to Samsung’s counterpart this year. If this is the case, the new Apple Pencil will be able to perform a ton of new tricks at launch like remote control, camera trigger, or many more.

MacBook Air
The Air lineup of laptops has not seen a major upgrade in recent years. Earlier this year, sources said that Apple would discontinue the Air series and replace it with a new range of laptops. However, it seems that Apple has been working on a new MacBook Air for years.
Sources claim that the next generation MacBook Air will feature a Retina display, making it the first Air model with this screen technology. Besides, the new MacBook Air will come with smaller bezels and Face ID at launch. Under the hood, the device will be fueled by Intel’s latest chip for better performance.
In terms of pricing, the new MacBook Air is expected to carry the same price tag as the current Air model. Back in July, Apple refreshed its MacBook Pro lineup with Intel’s newest Coffee Lake processor and better Touch Bar. However, it is not cheap out there, so Apple needs something to boost sales performance this year.
This is what we expect to see at this year’s October event. Sources say that Apple might unveil a new Mac mini and iMac at the event. If you have got any questions, let us know in the comments below.
