5 Best iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max Features

At 10 a.m this morning ( October 13th), Apple hosted its “Hi, Speed” event to introduce new products. Like the previous WWDC and Time Flies event, this event also happened in the form of a Livestream. Apart from the new HomePod Mini and MagCase, Apple’s finally pleased their fans by launching the new iPhone lineup. The new iPhone 12 models stole the spotlight of this morning event with several new features. In this article, I have gathered the 5 best iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max features

New Design With Flat Bezel and Pacific Blue Color

At first look, you may find the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max sport a design that’s quite similar to the recent iPhones. They still have a notch design on the front along with a sanded glass back cover and square camera clusters on the rear. However, Apple has changed the bezels of the iPhone 12, making it smaller when compared to the last year’s model.

Another big difference is the color. While the last year’s generation introduced the first-ever Midnight Green color option, this year’s lineup has the brand new Pacific Blue color. Of course, users also get 3 more color options, including Graphite, Silver, and Gold.

5G support

The new iPhone finally supports 5G after months of rumors and speculation. Apple also claimed that 5G will be the main technology of this year’s iPhone generation. All iPhone 12 models support two 5G standards: Sub-6Ghz and mmWave. According to Apple, under ideal conditions, the iPhone 12 can reach download speeds of up to 4Gbps.

Improved Display

Both the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max get an upgrade in screen size. The screen on the iPhone 12 Pro is 6.1 inches and the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s screen is 6.7 inches. On top of that, these two models have more than 3.5 million pixels in screen resolution, which has never been achieved by any iPhone before.

iPhone 12 Pro
Bigger Screen

The Super Retina XDR display with an OLED panel also promises brilliant colors and great shadow effects. In addition, the screens of all iPhone 12 models are protected by Ceramic Shield. This is 4 times more durable than previous versions. Unfortunately,  both models do not have a high refresh rate display of 120Hz.

A14 Bionic Chip

All the iPhone 12 models are equipped with Apple’s new A14 Bionic chip. The A14 Bionic is built on a brand new 5nm process with 11.8 billion transistors. It consists of 6 CPU cores and 4 GPU cores. The AI Neural Engine processor is upgraded to 16 cores, capable of performing 11 trillion computations per second. In other words, it is much more powerful than the A13 chip found in the previous iPhone generation.

iPhone 12 Pro

Upgraded Camera with LiDAR sensor

The two models have three cameras with three focal lengths: ultrawide, wide, and telephoto (zoom). In particular, the main camera of the iPhone 12 Pro has a larger f / 1.6 aperture, which helps in capturing more light and is very useful when taking pictures in low light conditions.

The iPhone 12 Pro Max’s camera is even better. It is equipped with a 47% increase in camera sensor size, increasing night-time shooting, and video performance by more than 70%. Its telephoto camera supports up to 5x optical zoom. In the next software update, these cameras support new ProRAW imaging features, allowing users to customize the image parameters after taking a shot.

iPhone 12 Pro
Superb Camera

In addition, the iPhone 12 Pro models also have a built-in LiDAR sensor similar to the iPad Pro. LiDAR is a depth gauge sensor that is very useful in virtual reality (AR) applications. On the iPhone 12 Pro, it also helps a lot in photography by providing faster and more precise focusing, especially in low-light environments.

In terms of video recording capabilities, the iPhone 12 Pro is the first smartphone to feature Dolby Vision HDR video recording, which supports 4K 60fps video recording.

The Verdict

Those are the significant new features on the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max. If you plan to grab a new iPhone this year, then give the iPhone 12 Pro/Pro Max a shot.
